(5th Grade Science - Newton's Three Laws of Motion - February 2012)
Sitting outside, deep in thought
An idea was what Sir Isaac Newton sought
Suddenly an apple hit his head
Gravitation! Ah, he said
At his lab, the laws began
Motion, acceleration, gravity, inertia oh Man!
First Law arrived, then two than three
How much thought, yes I agree!
Law one was inertia
A stew will stay cooking
Unless an outside, unbalanced force will be looking
And acts upon the stew, it will stop cooking
Law two came next, acceleration!
Acceleration is produced when a force acts upon a mass
The more the mass of an object
the greater amount of force needed to accelerate the object
Now here comes Law three!
For every action I make
There is an equal but opposite reaction
You better believe it!
Than an idea came up to Newton
Velocity, velocity
The speed in a given direction
Perfection, perfection
Now a force is
A push or a pull
Caused by an object on another
Creating a change
In motion!
Now for the end of the day,
Isaac Newton gave his last say
Inertia, he said
Is the tendency of an object
To continue or stay
At rest
Unless
Acted upon by another forcer!
The force that pulls you down
It’s called
Gravity, gravity
A pull between any object
And other objects around it
A force of attraction
Now the day was done
Newton’s laws are no pun
Now, they are the main concepts in physics
If you can’t feel it, just believe it!
