T’was the Night of the Opening

Based off "T'was the night before Christmas"

(6th Grade Language Arts - December 2012)

T’was the night of the opening, no one could hold still

Excitement was toppling over the hill

The wild audience was so pumped

When the curtain opened, they even jumped!

Far from the warm sand

Reindeer leaped in their winter wonderland

They pulled Santa in his sleigh

For, it was Christmas Day!

On his list of places to go

Radio City was first, ho ho!

It was a once in a lifetime chance

Santa got to introduce the Rockettes first dance!

They sang and tapped

The audience vigorously clapped

The 12 days of Christmas was heard loud and clear

Notifying that the nutcracker scene was near

Clara entered her dream

Where she and her bears danced as a team

Together they pranced

The audience was entranced

And then, onstage they slowly filed in

Their hats were clinking, as they were made of tin

To the public they appeared like dolls

Until they closed the number with their great fall

When the soldiers marched away

The bus drove on, hurray!

It rode through all of New York in the dark

And lastly, it arrived at Central Park

As the bus was wheeled away

The skaters took off with no delay!

The couple soared through the air

Everyone had to admit they were quit a pair

Then the Santa’s took the spotlight

Dressed in red and white

They danced around the world

And into Santa’s workshop they twirled

They were greeted by Santa’s elves

Carrying many many shelves

Of presents, they had to deliver

To Santa, since he is the official Christmas giver!

It was crazy what was going on in the North Pole

Santa was working on a very special goal

He was making a video game

One in 3D, that will win all the fame!

Santa sent his special forces

That had to go through four courses

To bring back the toys

For all the girls and boys!

At last, the Rockettes appeared their final time

Shining they finished their last kick line

Before the curtain came to a close

The cast struck their last pose

The Christmas Spectacular was a blast

But it went by so fast!

So many amazing people I have met

It was an experience I will never forget
